Decide what purposes you will use the suit for. If you only own one suit you need to make sure that it is flexible enough for all occassions.

Don't be affraid to get the suit tailor made if it is for an important occassion and you know you'll be using it often in the future.

Personally I like a man in pinstripe! However, if pinstripe is not an option a great tie will make up for a poor choice of suit. Remember colour is important, make it bright!

Choose the button style first. And make sure it is wool. A good suit is always 100% wool as it crumples less.
